Fine Arts Collection
In the preserved collection of the Špital are 14 works of art. High Baroque art is represented by a painting of the Holy Family, assumed to have been painted by Joseph Digl, and a portrait of the dean Kastelic from Stari trg near Slovenj Gradec, attributed to Joseph Andreas Strauss. Sculptures of two late-Baroque angels can be considered to be the works of Johannes Klein.
The 19th century was marked by the Biedermeier era, represented here by a Portrait of a young man from 1836 and Portrait of a man in 1855, both done by August Pilgram. The portrait collection is complemented by bourgeois portraits from the first half of the 19th century. Among them the portrait of Empress Elisabeth, known as Sisi, stands out as a historically representative work by Carl Dietrich from Graz. The collection further contains three late Romantic landscapes: Ebensee, a view of a monastic church and the Eggenberg Castle.
