Museum Špital
In a building that has retained its original name through the centuries, the Radgona Museum now resides. Visitors can explore the rich and multi-faceted museum collection “Radgona Bridges,” enhanced by multimedia presentations and an open depot, discovering the geological features, archaeological curiosities, and the ethnological and artistic heritage of the town by the Mura River. The building has undergone numerous structural and functional changes, making it a rare example of urban architecture in Slovenia with a unique floor plan and roof structure. The permanent museum exhibition “Radgona Bridges” showcases bridges from the earliest periods to the present day. These bridges are not just architectural structures connecting riverbanks but also carry a much broader symbolic meaning. They represent the bridges of familial and political history in the hinterland of the flourishing medieval town on the island of the Mura River; bridges between urban and suburban populations, bridges between vineyard owners and vineyard workers, and lastly, bridges between two ethnic and linguistic groups that have coexisted in this area since settlement. We invite you to explore our history!
